Iowa City Pride Festival and Parade  College Green Park, Iowa City, Noon till 4  Here it is—your chance to be out and proud, and gather with your community for a day of speakers, music, entertainment, and fun in the park.  The parade leaves at noon, so be there with your floats, harleys, and marching bands in plenty of time to get lined up.  Don’t forget your sunblock! 

 

Snappy Hour at Ruby's Pearl : 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Ruby's Pearl - After the Pride Fest, join us for refreshments & peruse the Art Show. Special discounts on books and supplies.

Takanami Pride Fest Dinner : 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm - Takanami Pride Fest Dinner Have dinner at Takanami on Saturday June between 5pm and 7 pm and let them know you are coming for pride and Takanami will donate $2.00 per person to pride fest 2005. Call for reservations. All Ages

Mindfulness Practice at Spirit Hill 10 am - noon, 319-643-2613  A mindfulness practice group. We have been mindfully making candles and may explore other activities as well such as listening to tapes, doing yoga, silent meditation, discussion, etc. Whatever the activity, our intent is to practice being mindfully present during our two hours together.

White Anti-Racist Workshop for LGBT People : 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Meeting Room A, Iowa City Public Library - White Anti-Racist Workshop for LGBT People 6:30-9:30 p.m., Meeting Room A, Iowa City Public Library Come to this workshop and explore the parallels and differences between racism and heterosexism. We will particularly focus on the role that white LGBT people can serve in the struggles against racism and for social justice, including issues of white privilege in gay/lesbian rights activism, skills needed to be effective allies, and ways to build inclusive multiracial communities. Examples of contemporary struggles (e.g., the fight for marriage rights and "safe schools" initiatives) will be discussed.

EVENINGS FOR SPIRIT
When: June 5th & 19th; 7:00pm-9:00pm
Where: Spirit Hill, West Branch

On the first and third (and fifth) Thursdays of each month, women gather at SpiritHill to share our spiritual experiences, visions and longings. The
evenings include time for sharing and time for silence. Laughter, tears and singing are often shared as well. No specific spiritual practice is
followed. The gathering is held from 7-9 pm and is always open for newcomers.

 

We welcome new members. Please contact SpiritHill if you would like more
information.

DIRECTIONS TO SPIRITHILL:  Take I-80 east from Iowa City or west from the Quad Cities to Exit 259 (West Liberty exit). Eastbound travelers turn left, and westbound travelers turn right off the exit ramp. Go north on X-40 (Garfield Ave.) 4.5 miles to the T-intersection. Turn right onto Cedar Valley Road.
