Favorites, education, and occupation

I like watching the Looney Tunes, MASH, and Star Trek. My favorite movies include the Star Wars movies, Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon, Dead Poets Society, and the Lord of the Rings movies. I like cooking and experiencing different cuisine and tastes. I also enjoy discussing audio systems and experiencing good stereo and home theatre systems. Currently, my system is based on speakers from Definitive Technology BP series and Infinity Primus series with electronics from Sony and Denon. Many times, I will sit down and turn out the lights, turn on a Tiesto CD, piano sonata or a CD by Enya and just enjoy a nice sound environment. Click here for more about my music and movie favorites.

I graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa with a bachelors in 2003. My degree is in political science and minor in computer science. Working with computers, building web sites and building Java-based applications are what I do for a living. I have a small development studio using Windows XP/2000. At this time, I develop Java-based applications for a large utility company. I am an independent web designer/developer for commercial and personal web application systems.

Additionally, I am obtained an MBA from University of Phoenix and started doctorial study in Public Policy with Walden University.

Community service has been a strong part of my activities.  My work includes working with local and state governments and community organizations.  My community activities have included working with the City of Coralville, Iowa City Public Library, Human Rights Campaign, Iowa Center for AIDS Resources and Education (ICARE), United Action for Youth (UAY), City Circle Acting Company of Coralville, and chaired the Iowa City Pride Festival committee.  I do legislative lobbying at the Iowa State Capitol and have worked on the Dean for America campaign in 2004.  A work in progress is a political discourse that discusses the paradox within American politics and policies.

Currently, I am involved with Des Moines area politics of the Progressive Coalition of Central Iowa, First Friday Breakfast Club, Des Moines Men's Chorus.  I am an assistant instructor for South Suburban Des Moines YMCA tae kwon do program (part of the Pak Family martial arts from Iowa State University) and work out at Aspen Athletic Club in Des Moines.

My Chinese zodiac sign is the dragon, and my horoscope sign is Gemini.

A broad mind encapsulates opinions and ideas of many; a focused mind understands their relevance.

Life is a game of choice and decisions; the wise one understands his/her faults and makes better choices and decisions.

My zodiac sign is the dragon as I was born in 1976. I have been fascinated with the myths and legends of dragons. The Chinese consider a person of the dragon to be loyal, perfectionist, and outgoing person.

From Chinese Zodiac:
Full of vitality and enthusiasm, the dragon is a popular individual even with the reputation of being foolhardy and a "big mouth" at times.  A dragon is intelligent, gifted, and a perfectionist, but these qualities make you unduly demanding on others.
